5 Things to Do in Auburn Over the Summer

School is out and summer is in full swing! After a long school year full of hard work, we are so excited to have a much-needed break to spend time with friends and family and catch up on some rest. If you decided to spend the summer in Auburn this year, you’re in luck!! There are plenty of fun activities to do all summer long, but here are our top 5!

1. Grab a Sno Biz Shaved Ice with a sister
Hot summer days call for shaved ice! If you’ve never visited Sno Biz in Auburn, AL, it’s a must-try! Located at 1625 E. University Drive, Sno Biz has over 30 flavors of shaved ice to try as well as toppings, ice cream, Italian sodas, shakes and blended iced coffee.

If you find yourself free and looking for a sweet treat, grab a sister from your chapter or from another Panhellenic sorority and give it a try! Be sure to tag @aupanhellenic on Instagram with your shaved ice in hand!

2. Go to the Farmer’s Market for some local produce
You can’t beat local produce in the summer! Auburn boasts many different farmer’s markets across the area, each with its own unique take on what it means to shop small. Whether you try OGrows, the Market at Ag Heritage Park or any other local farmer’s market, you’re sure to find some yummy fruits and vegetables to enjoy all summer long.

You’ll find things like beans, blackberries, blueberries, cantaloupe, cucumbers, okra, peaches, sweet corn and various herbs at each of the unique markets around town.

3. Dip your feet in the water at Chewacla State Park
Many people love Chewacla State Park for all different kinds of reasons, but one of our favorite things to do while visiting Chewacla State Park is to hike to the waterfall, take our shoes off, and dip our feet in the cool water!

Chewacla provides great scenic views from every angle and it’s the perfect place to spend a warm summer day. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, pack a picnic and head to Chewacla for the day! You’ll be amazed at what all the park has to offer.

4. Take a walk at Kiesel Park
According to the Kiesel Park website, “Kiesel Park is Auburn's largest park, with a pavilion, a garden, a pond and a walking trail with a distance of 2 1/4 miles.” It is one of our favorite places to exercise and relax, and with such beautiful walking trails, there’s no better place to go on a walk than at Kiesel Park.

If you have a dog, Kiesel Park is also the perfect place to bring your furry friend for a nice stroll. There is plenty of room to run and all sorts of things to see, making it the best of both worlds for everyone.

5. Visit the “Outside In” art exhibition at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art
The Jule Collins Smith Fine Art Museum is the perfect place to spend a hot summer’s day. Not only is the majority of the museum indoors, but it also boasts large collections of artwork that can’t be found anywhere else.

The Jule Collins Smith Fine Art Museum is currently displaying the “Outside In” exhibition. According to the museum, “This collaborative exhibition pairs selections from the university’s impressive Louise Hauss and David Brent Miller Audubon Collection with seasonally-changing specimens from Auburn’s Museum of Natural History.”

If you’re staying in Auburn this summer, have no fear as there is plenty to keep you busy! Don’t forget to have fun this summer and stay safe! We can’t wait to see you back in the fall!
