Women’s History Month: Auburn Alumni

Happy Women’s History Wednesday! Here at Auburn, we have had many very successful women graduate from our incredible University. The Panhellenic community makes a point to encourage each and every woman, greek or not, to strive to the best of their ability. At this time, we would like to highlight a few women Auburn graduates who have done amazing things.

Kay Ivey currently serves as the Governor of Alabama. She graduated from Auburn University in 1967 with a degree in Secondary Education. Ms. Ivey was a member of our Alpha Gamma Delta chapter. She was also involved in the Student Government Association.

Octavia Spencer is an Oscar winning actress for her role in “The Help.” Spencer graduated from Auburn in 1994 where she majored in English and Theatre Arts. This past December, she partnered with UPC to provide meals for students during finals.

Kirsty Coventry is a seven-time Olympic medalist in swimming. Coventry graduated from Auburn in 2006. She helped lead Auburn University’s swim team to two NCAA Championships in 2004 and 2005.

There are so many more outstanding women that have been students at Auburn University and we are proud of what they have done. We are thankful for the paths that they have forged for us!
