Confident Woman

Happy March, and happy International Women’s month! Women have grown so much in society from not having any rights to feeling like we have a voice. We have been fighting for rights, and fairness, and for people to look at us as human beings forever. While you may not be in the very thick of that fight right now, that history lives inside of you. Thanking all of the women who came before us, and their confidence to stand up for what they believe is fair. The reason these changes were made was because of boldness and being able to stand firm rather than having pride. You may not think that this boldness lives inside of you but believe me it does.

“There are two types of people in the world: the ones who wait for something to happen and the ones that make something happen” (Joyce Myer). You might really identify with one of these types of people, and both have so much purpose in life. But, one thing I want you to believe about yourself is that even though you may have a shyer personality, you too can be filled with boldness.

You know that girl that you see that is just so full of life, the one who doesn’t seem to be anxious or worried about the crazy things they do? Do you ever wish that, that could be you? Well, at one point I did, and I learned from her, and eventually became this newfound confident version of myself. I believed in my value (Isaiah 43:4-5). I had confidence in my actions, decisions, and stopped worrying about what I couldn’t do (2 Kings 18:5). I knew that every new experience was an opportunity to learn about my strengths and grow as a person. I stepped out of my comfort zone and into a place of trust (Matthew 14:28).

You can accomplish amazing things, and boldness can shine even in the shyest person. It will look different in everyone. Maybe for you in looks like standing up for yourself, advocating for something that is right, producing change, making a decision for yourself, asking someone new to get coffee with you. Maybe it means you reach out to the girl in your sorority who seems to sit alone, or applying for a job, saying no when you’re busy. Having confidence in yourself produces a woman who will change the world.

“That is why I would remind you to stir up the gracious gift of God, that is in you.”- 2 Timothy 1:6
