The cooler, gloomier weather makes for perfect binge days. We also want to watch things that really feel like fall, especially when the weather doesn't match the season. Here is our guide to seasonal series and films that deliver your fall fix!
Shows:
Gilmore Girls
The most classic fall show. The series spans a full year but never loses that true fall feeling. Its timeline is so specific that people have created schedules to watch a certain number of episodes per week to align perfectly with the current holiday. Although it's no longer on Netflix, you can still find it on Hulu, Disney+, and Prime Video.
The Vampire Diaries
It feels like fall from the very first episode. Set in the small town of Mystic Falls, the series has romance, drama, supernatural twists, and plenty of dark, moody fall scenery. It's the perfect show when you want something you can really get invested in.
One Tree Hill
A classic early-2000s comfort show that somehow makes you want to grab a blanket and stay in all day. The show follows a group of friends through high school, relationships, family drama, and growing up in the small town of Tree Hill. With its cozy small-town setting and nostalgic feel, it's an easy fall binge.
Stranger Things
If you want something a little more spooky, Stranger Things is the perfect watch. I'm sure most people have already rewatched it, but with its Halloween episodes and loads of creepy moments, it's perfect for October.
Felicity
A show about college, friendships, relationships, and figuring out who you are. The series follows Felicity through college as she navigates new friendships, love, and life away from home. It has that cozy, nostalgic college feel that makes it perfect for this season of life.
Pretty Little Liars
The perfect show for when you want a little more drama. It follows four friends whose secrets keep coming back to haunt them after their best friend's disappearance. The small-town settings
Movies:
Hocus Pocus
No watch list is complete without Hocus Pocus. Follow the Sanderson sisters as they return to Salem on Halloween night and cause a little chaos. It's nostalgic, funny, and just spooky enough, making it one of the best fall movies.
The Addams Family
The Addams Family is a Halloween classic filled with dark humor, eccentric characters, and the wonderfully weird Addams family. It's an easy pick for when you want something fun and nostalgic.
Hubie Halloween
This movie is funnier than anything. Hubie Halloween features Adam Sandler as he tries to keep his town safe when something mysterious happens. It's a perfect comedy for staying festive.
Twilight
We all know the vibe of Twilight- rainy, small-town, and vampires. Perfect for fall. Whether you're team Edward or team Jacob, it's a must-watch for anyone.
Practical Magic
This movie has the perfect amount of spook for a girls' night in the fall. It follows two witch sisters and their strange romantic stories. It's a perfect movie to draw you in while still leaving time to yap.
Sweet Home Alabama
This one doesn't scream Halloween, but its Southern charm, romance, and nostalgia make it perfect for a movie night. It is set in the fall, so like, it counts!
Harry Potter
This film series is perfect for a fall movie marathon. With Hogwarts, cozy common rooms, changing seasons, and Halloween at the castle, the series has that magical fall feel.
Halloweentown Movies
For a little childhood nostalgia, spend your time in Halloweentown. The movie series follows Marnie as she discovers that magic is real and that her family has a much bigger connection to Halloween than she realized. They're cheesy, nostalgic, and basically guaranteed to put you in the Halloween spirit.
A new season can mean new shows and movies, so take advantage of the change in the weather! You might find a movie you'll want to rewatch 100 times.
