Greek Sing Habitat Days
Every year, the Auburn University Panhellenic Council plans and facilitates Greek Sing: a choreographed dance competition among eighteen Panhellenic sororities. The event draws many participants, spectators, and sponsors not only because of the talent of the dancers, but also because of the heart and meaning behind the event.
Members from each chapter volunteer throughout the course of the Greek Sing season for “Habitat Days.” These days are set aside for students to go to work on homesites with the amazing leadership of the Habitat team. This is an impactful time of service that benefits not only families in our local communities, but members of the Greek community as well.
What are Greek Sing Habitat Days?
Habitat Days are opportunities for Panhellenic women from each chapter to serve Habitat for Humanity, the beneficiary of all funds raised by Greek Sing each year, in a hands-on service-oriented environment.
What is the purpose of Greek Sing Habitat Days?
The purpose of Habitat Days is not only to allow Panhellenic women to physically help build homes for Habitat homeowners and see what Greek Sing truly is all about, but to also encourage new bonds to be built among women from different chapters who would likely not have met had if it had not been for the service day.
What is accomplished during Greek Sing Habitat Days?
During Habitat Days, Auburn Panhellenic volunteers work alongside experienced Habitat for Humanity leaders on any work that needs to be completed. Some of the projects we help with are attaching siding to homes, building fences, painting beadboard, organizing the Habitat for Humanity ReStore and assisting with anything else the team needs!
When and where do Greek Sing Habitat Days occur?
The Greek Sing Habitat Days occur on a few different Saturdays throughout the spring semester. We work on Habitat home sites around the Auburn-Opelika area and at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Auburn.
